Windows to A Multicultural World
Place-Based Learning for Educational Enrichment

Picture

Windows to A Multicultural World modules for K-12 field trips
Our set of educational enrichment modules are delivered on-site at the Clemmons Family Farm and offer a range of content covering African-American and African diaspora history, art, culture and geography content.
Our "Windows to A Multicultural World" educational enrichment programs provide a unique opportunity for school field trips to the historic Clemmons Family Farm in Charlotte, Vermont.

We offer six separate modules with a range of age-appropriate place-based learning activities grounded in African-American history and African diaspora art and culture.

Many of the field trip modules offered at the Clemmons Family Farm are facilitated by artists and scholars of African descent.

Each module is developed to meet specific learning objectives and to address selected Core Curriculum Standards for the State of Vermont.

The African diaspora is the term commonly used
to describe the peoples of
Africa who were taken from their home continent  during  the Transatlantic Slave Trade
from the 1600's and the 1800's and dispersed throughout
the world. Today the African
Diaspora includes
millions of people of African descent

who live in Africa, Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean,
Asia and the Far East.

Helping All Children Become World Citizens
In 2018, bill
H.794 was introduced by a team of lawmakers in the Vermont General Assembly to advocate for the adoption of “ethnic studies standards” into statewide educational standards and for a policy on ethnic and social equity in schools.  Our "Windows to A Multicultural World" field trips are designed to help schools to get a head start on meeting these emerging standards and to support the efforts that many schools are already making to help their students acquire the skills, attitudes and exposure to multicultural settings that they need to reach their full potential as citizens of the world.
