What is Windows To A Multicultural World and How Does it Fit
Into My Curriculum?
Our Special Edition 2025 offers reduced pricing for "mini-packages" of curricula that are part of Windows To A Multicultural WorldTM -- a K-12 education program of Clemmons Family Farm, Inc. This program focuses primarily on teaching US history using our arts-integrated approach and interpretive themes that explore history from unusual, exciting, and intriguing perspectives. Our approach focuses on the experiences and cultures of African-Americans and the peoples of the African diaspora.
Windows To A Multcultural WorldTM provides curriculum for students in grades K-12, organized in four grade bands: K-2; 3-5; 6-8; and 9-12. Curriculum includes topic overviews, lesson plans, spotlights on remarkable people, places or events, downloadable handouts, and curated resources (most of which are accessible online) to help teachers and parents find more information to support their lesson planning and preparation.
Arts activities include activities that teachers and parents can help their students with in the classroom or at home, live arts engagements led by Clemmons Family Farm teaching artists, and pre-recorded arts engagements (most available for viewing at an additional fee).
How Does WTAMW Fit Into My Curriculum?
Windows To A Multicultural WorldTM is an enrichment curriculum.
The Windows To A Multicultural WorldTM (WTAMW) curriculum does not contain all the information you will need to teach your class this year. Instead, use the lessons and resources in the WTAMW curriculum as a complement to your K12 curriculum in history, social studies, geography, language arts, and more.
WTAMW addresses gaps in the curriculum most often used by K12 teachers by:
Each lesson and activity is designed so that you can use the WTAMW curriculum in ways that best suit your teaching style, grade level(s), students’ learning styles, classroom setting, and curriculum goals. Some lesson plans and activities may only take one class period, while others can be spread out over the course of a week, two weeks, or even a month.
For example, the lesson package Roller Skating and Civil Rights helps teachers frame and organize teaching about the 1960s Civil Rights Movement by centering it around Black/African American voices and experiences. This lesson package also helps teachers connect history to contemporary events- specifically the Black Lives Matter movement. The focus on roller skating and two famous roller skaters (Ledger Smith and Kaitlyn Saunders) offers a unique interpretive theme through which students can explore concepts like freedom, liberty, self-expression, community, and activism.
In each lesson package, LEARN, COMMUNE, or CREATE activities are supported with downloadable handouts, discussion questions, and curated resources to help teachers prepare their lessons and- as needed- do additional quick research to build out the information they choose to share with their students.
