"The Power of Image:
Media By and For the Community"
Doodle video by Lydia Clemmons. Clemmons Family Farm family and collaborating artists illustrations by Kia'Rae Hanron.
Our 90-minute program-The Power of Image: Media By and For the Community-explores the work of these two incredible transnational scholars and artists while exploring the important contributions of African-American and African Diaspora filmmakers and photographers. We will discuss representation and dynamics of power within the industry, and learn about the suppression, opportunities, and responsibilities with creating and capturing narratives. We will also gain insights into how Africans and African-Americans represent their culture through film and photography and how they can work together in ways that build community across the diaspora.
Join our community media co-creation activity!
This newest segment of the Clemmons Family Farm's Storytelling Room series continues our method of using interactive arts engagements to build community around African-American and African diaspora history, arts and culture. Our virtual program's co-creation work will focus on the theme of "freedom".

Program
The Power of Image: Media By and For the Community and our other community-building programs in The Storytelling Room arts and culture series are made possible through generous donations from Vermont businesses and individual members of our wonderful community. This particular program is made possible thanks to the ongoing support of Vermont Country Store and the new support of Weybridge Congregational Church!
All of our Storytelling Room programs- whether virtual or on-site- are held in the beautiful Barn House- one of the historic buildings on the Clemmons farm that is under the stewardship of the nonprofit organization, Clemmons Family Farm, Inc. Our ability to hold and steward this wonderful community asset is thanks in large part to a resilience grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) and with continuing support from Vermont Community Foundation.
