“The Clemmons Farm serves to bridge where we are today to what we can be in the future through educational, arts, and culinary programs for a more multiracial, multi-ethnic, and multicultural Vermont.” |
“The Clemmons Family Farm is a stunning property whose rich history in Charlotte makes it a wonderful addition to Vermont’s African American Heritage Trail” What a great idea! If this town needs anything, besides civil behavior at town meetings, it’s an emphasis on diversity. Thank you for your efforts and for letting us get to know you all over the years. I’m always awed (and intimidated) by your contribution to the community. Best to your family, we love you all.
Thank you so much for the informative posting on FPF, for those of us who did not know what was going on. We look forward to meeting you over the next few months, and possibly helping out. It seems that you have made a wonderful start to your project with this beautiful video. My husband and I live on the north end of Lake Road ( in the summer months) and pass by your home on a daily basis. Best of luck with the next stage! Thanks for the film Hats, Laundry and Photography! What a great way to store the family stories/memories. Hats, Laundry and Photography (and Shoes). I am so enjoying your parents’ stories. I love having a new one pop up on FPF. Thank you for sharing your parents with all of us in this way. Cafeteria Story. Love it! And he’s still gorgeous! Don’t tell him it wasn’t the sandwiches that made those long lines. (From a) Proud ex-college cafeteria worker and present CVU kitchen multi-hatter. Thank you for sharing your plans for what sounds like an immensely valuable, not to mention wonderful, project for the future of your family's property. Development of any kind in our town can be difficult and challenging, but when done with care and sensitivity can be incorporated into the fabric of our town successfully. I only mention this so you will not become discouraged with the process! I look forward to hearing more about it as things progress, and wish you all the best with your plans!

Cafeteria wizard. Totally charming. Reminds me a little of my own initial working days and rising through the ranks by doing good work. Bully for Jack! I have three grandchildren that would not think of doing menial work as a starter up a ladder. Sad.
Thanks for putting up the videos. I've seen several of them now. They are fun and inspiring. The ones about the farm in Charlotte make me kind of homesick already, though I'm sure we've done the right thing for us by moving.
You posted a link on FPF and these audio stories are wonderful! Thank you for sharing your voice, history, perspective, and life! I would love to hear more stories like yours. Appreciatively...

I just want to say that your proposed projects and your Kickstarter campaign look terrific. I live next to the Old Brick Store down the road. I can't wait to see and support your project! I will also share with my colleagues at the Intervale Center :)
Wow! Very exciting and best of luck!
This is so cool. What a gift for our community.
This is great. Love learning about your parents and their connection to the Charlotte homestead. Good luck, wonderful project!
What an exciting idea for your family "compound" on our Greenbush Rd. Even though I have moved to Burlington Greenbush will always be a special place for me. I look forward to hearing more about your plans and progress. If I can be of help with the process please let me know. All the best to you both and your families.
Lydia I think this is totally awesome and very well done. By all means let me know when the campaign is up, and I will circulate it throughout my networks.
Thank you for sharing the history of your farm and family with us. A story we would have never known. What a wonderful thing to have you and your family in our community. Kindly, A Resident of Charlotte since 1996.
This is very exciting! I will look forward to the next steps. Keep me posted.

Hello Lydia and Jack, What a beautiful thing you are doing. I just read part 2 of the Clemmons story and thoroughly enjoyed learning more about it. You're doing an excellent job of it, too--it's interestingly told and beautifully depicted. Best of luck and warm wishes.
I live in town and have for a long time. I would love to meet your Dad and family, history and stories are so important. Sign me up!
I was an undergraduate student research assistant ca. 1965 in Dr. Clemmons's UVM research lab, working on a study of oxygen metabolism in chick embryos with damage to collagen. What wonderful news to hear of the plans for the Clemmons's family farm!
